Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), established under the RGIPT Act, 2007, is an Institution of National Importance built on the academic rigor and ambition associated with the IIT ecosystem. It stands as India's flagship institute focused exclusively on petroleum, energy, and allied research.
As the official host institution for the hackathon, RGIPT brings together advanced laboratories, high-caliber faculty, and deep engagement with leading industry stakeholders including ONGC, Indian Oil, BPCL, HPCL, and GAIL, creating a serious platform for high-impact innovation.
RGIPT anchors the Indo-Russian hackathon with academic credibility, research infrastructure, expert mentorship, and strong industry alignment, ensuring ideas move beyond concepts toward real-world energy solutions.

Expanded overview
Students only need to register individually on the website. Once registered, they can enter the hackathon flow without needing a pre-formed team.
Team formation will happen on Dion, and we will share the link to join it later. Participants with technical knowledge and participants from non-technical backgrounds are both welcome because the goal is to build balanced, cooperative teams across diverse skill sets.
During 17 to 18 March, teams will work through the online preliminary round, collaborate remotely, and submit their ideas or prototypes for evaluation.

This stage lowers the entry barrier, keeps registration simple, and helps create stronger teams by mixing students from different domains instead of rewarding only pre-built technical groups.
